Services

● Public advisory and court representation service available to individuals who are financially eligible for legal aid and who request a covered service. Services generally covered are family matters, youth protection, representation of young offenders, prosecution for a criminal offence, social assistance applications, employment insurance, automobile insurance and work accidents. Legal aid may also be available in other situations if a person’s safety, freedom or livelihood are at stake.

● Services are provided by permanent legal aid lawyers or by lawyers or notaries who work in private offices, at the client’s option. Available free of charge or with a financial contribution of $100 to $800, depending on the person’s financial situation. Service provided in person by appointment.

● Legal information service for residents of the Pointe-Saint-Charles and Little Burgundy districts in the areas of civil law and of family, social security, housing, finance, consumer, liability and succession law. Available free of charge. Service provided by phone or in person by appointment as required.

● Legal information workshops for community groups, offered primarily by lawyers. Possibility of travel to organizations. Available free of charge. Phone for details and to register, or send an e-mail message to be put on the mailing list.

● Publications of legal information on access to justice, elder abuse, drafting of a legal notice and legal aid eligibility grids. Available free of charge. Go to the website for downloading.
