● URGENCE AVOCAT : If arrested, you are entitled to a telephone call to a lawyer. If you do not know a lawyer, the Barreau du Quebec offers a free legal consultation.  The free service “Urgence avocat” is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  A lawyer in your area will respond. ● FLAT-FEE MEDIATION SERVICE: Mediation service that consists of mandating an impartial mediator who helps you seek solutions to your dispute. For the general public and for businesses with 25 or fewer employees with a civil or commercial dispute involving an amount of $35,000 or less. Fees are set according to a scale and vary from $1,000 to $3,500 (plus administrative costs). ● HOUSING-LAW PHONE SERVICE: The Barreau du Québec, in collaboration with the Régie du logement, has established a telephone service available to tenants and landlords in the Montréal, Laval, Laurentian and Lanaudière areas. To speak with a lawyer who practises housing law and to obtain legal information free of charge, call 1 844 227-3790 Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
