Organisation profile
The Community Justice Centers are non-profit organizations located in several regions of Québec: Bas-Saint-Laurent, Gaspé Peninsula – Magdalen Islands, Greater Montreal, Outaouais, National Capital and Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean.
Mission: Promoting access to justice by fostering the participation of citizens through legal information, support and referral services provided in complement with existing resources.
Vision: Being a recognized source of legal information and referral, close to the public, aiming at making justice more accessible and increasing confidence in the legal system.
Services
Our services are free and are provided by lawyers. They are offered to citizens of many regions.
● LEGAL INFORMATION: Inform you about your rights and obligations so you can better understand the various legal situations you may face in everyday life and make informed decisions, using either the judicial system or private dispute prevention and resolution processes.
● REFERRAL: Refer you to available legal resources related to the legal system or the community, so you can choose the service that best suits your needs.
● SUPPORT: Support you by helping you in the identification of your legal needs and the options available to address them, as well as by offering free legal information sessions in the community. The Centers offer the organizations located in their regions to come to their offices to give free information sessions or workshops to their employees, members or users, on specific legal topics.
● Varied documentation on site (brochures, leaflets, guides, etc.).
The legal information given in the Centers covers all areas of the law. We can give you the appropriate legal information with regard to the matter you are faced with. However we cannot provide you with a legal opinion or legal advice.
The Community Justice Centers are independent of one another. To receive free legal information, support and referral services, please contact the Center in your area.
