Organisation profile
The Curateur public ensures the protection of incapable persons and the patrimony of minors. It educates the public about incapacity and the importance of taking action before it happens. The Curateur public also provides support to families and loved ones who are representing an incapable person or who are members of a tutorship council, and supervises the administration of tutorships and curatorships.

● Information on the role of the Public Trustee in the protection of incapacitated adults and guardianship of the property of minors as well as on the obligations of persons representing incapacitated individuals, administering their wealth or serving on a board of guardians. Available free of charge. Service provided by phone, in person by visiting an office in your region, or by e-mail through their website.
● Legal information workshops on the role of the Public Trustee in the protection of incapacitated adults and guardianship of the property of minors, as well as on the obligations of persons representing incapacitated individuals, administering their wealth or serving on a board of guardians. Intended for organizations. Available free of charge. Contact them by e-mail via their website or by post to issue a request. Each request is examined in accordance with available resources. A workshop request may be declined.
● Reports: receiving and handling reports (mistreatment, neglect, abuse or risk to property) regarding a person under private or public guardianship, a person whose incapacity has been ascertained by medical assessment but who does not yet benefit from protection, or the property of a minor child. Available free of charge. Send your report by phone, by visiting the office in your region, by post or by e-mail via their website.
● Legal information publications on the protection of incapacitated adults and on the guardianship of the property of minors. Available free of charge. You can download a copy from their website or visit the office in your region. Copies can also be ordered by phone. The brochure In Case of Incapacity: the Protection Mandate, which includes a model mandate, can be downloaded free of charge. The paper version is sold at Publications du Québec for $9.95.
