Non-profit organization whose mission is to provide restorative justice services to repair the harm caused to both the victim and the community through the application of certain measures under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and compensatory work, and the General Adult Alternative Measures Program.
Services
Citizen mediation component:
Citizen mediation: A free, voluntary and confidential service offered by volunteer mediators trained by the Réseau Équjustice who assist citizens in the management of their conflicts, with the exception of family mediation. Justice component:
Youth Criminal Justice Act: When an offense has been committed by a young person, there are appropriate measures in place to repair the harm caused by the act. Équjustice implements them with respect and fairness.
Compensatory work: Under the Code of Penal Procedure of Québec, adolescents between the ages of 14 and 17 may work unpaid hours to compensate for their fines.
General Alternative Measures Program (Adults): Some criminal offenses may be diverted at first appearance and accused persons may be offered the opportunity to participate in the General Alternative Measures Program. Équjustice oversees these measures and ensures that it supports accused persons and victims in their implementation.
