Mesures Alternatives des Vallées du Nord
Organisation profile
Mesures Alternatives des Vallées du Nord is an autonomous community organization devoted to the development and consolidation of alternative ongoing dispute-settlement mechanisms.
We encourage the active involvement of citizens in seeking, implementing and supporting solutions that promote peaceful behaviour among community members.
Mesures Alternatives des Vallées du Nord thereby contributes to improving people’s living conditions and to developing the exercise of citizenship and public-spiritedness in the Laurentians.
Services
Our services: “Talk first to better…”
LIVING together: Nobody is immune from disputes that can degenerate: bickering between neighbours, interpersonal conflicts, noise problems, theft, intimidation. Whatever the problem you face, you can call upon our Laurentian neighbourhood conciliation and mediation services.
COHABITING together: You live in a social housing unit and you need to talk? You feel the need to be informed, to see people, to start a project that is close to your heart, in your own surroundings? Our social housing neighbourhood workers can help you in your efforts if you are experiencing situations that concern you or disturb you.
BEHAVING together: An interactive workshop is offered to Grade 6 and first-year high school students to enhance knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice Act while dealing with their rights and responsibilities.
ATONING together: This penal justice program lets adolescents from ages 12 to 17 who have been arrested remedy their acts directly with victims or symbolically toward the community. They can also make amends by taking part in activities that encourage the development of social skills (self-esteem, communication tools, substance abuse, etc.).
WORKING together: Our services to small and mid-sized businesses include support for managers and training of employees to facilitate dispute management and staff communications. They aim in particular to encourage employee engagement and development of new people skills for living and working better together in businesses.
