The Office de la protection du consommateur is a body of the Government of Québec that provides services to consumers and merchants. It protects consumers and monitors the application of the laws and regulations under its responsibility, informs consumers collectively and individually, educates them and receives their complaints and fosters concerted action among stakeholders of the consumer market.

● Legal information on the rights and remedies of consumers and merchants. Available free of charge. Service provided by phone, in person and via their website.

● Processing of complaints from consumers against merchants who may have violated a law the organization enforces. Available free of charge. Phone to file a complaint, and an agent will tell you how to get the form online.

● “Get information about a merchant:” a list of licensed merchants that have been the subject of complaints or convictions. Available free of charge. Visit the website to use the search tool.

● Legal information available on their website. Copies may be obtained in paper format.
